We are just normal everyday people who are just fed up with being confronted by plastic packaging everywhere we turn in our lives. After feeling frustrated by the vast amounts of packaging that comes home with us every time we go food shopping we had an idea that we could remove the packaging and leave it at the shop instead of taking it all with us.
This was a passing thought that unfortunately didn’t bear fruit.
Roll forward a few months and an article appears on the TV of a group of people who have staged a protest against plastic packaging at their local Tesco store.
Wow! not only did someone actually have the same thought but also had the courage to stand up and make their point in a very peaceful, very direct manner and managed to get the media on their side at the same time!
We aren’t entirely sure where the term ‘Plastic Attack’ to describe this form of protest came from, or who coined it first but it has now become internationally recognised.
With events being organised by various unrelated groups of people around the world and plastic attack pages appearing on social media sites, this new movement seems to be spreading organically from a grassroots level like nothing before it.
People from all walks of life seem to be getting involved, driven purely by their distaste of the amounts of plastic waste that they are confronted with when just trying to carry out the simple task of buying food to eat.
As our skills lie in blogging and web developing we decided to use these in order to play our part in helping in the fight against plastic pollution and unnecessary waste. By setting up this site we want to create a resource of information for people interested in plastic attacks and in the movement against plastic pollution in general.
Our hope is that together we can help to make the changes to stop the pollution of our planet before its too late.
